A few years later the Judeans were in full revolt against the Romans, and they slaughtered the entire garrison at Jerusalem then locked themselves in the city and into a few other places.
It didn't turn out particularly well (they were killed and the survivors sold in to slavery) but it took a while to retake the fortifications. Oh, and Jerusalem was basically levelled.
