Shouldn’t you tell the owner of the car that you borrowed?

Owner should still respond to the ticket not guilty. Then next step would be to get a hearing date. Then provide evidence that they do not own said vehicle on ticket to the court. Judge dismisses case.

If it was recent give it some more time to see if it pops up. Sometimes depending on the court/county handling the case they might not upload the case online. Sometimes they will send mail to the owner about the ticket. Worst case scenario you ignore it, miss the plea date, owners license gets suspended and you’ll have to pay the $70 fee for the scoff law. After all that you will still have to deal with original ticket now. I’m not sure if they will find you automatically guilty or will have a chance to fight it after that. I am not an attorney btw

Any mistakes on the ticket can get it thrown out. They put green instead of blue for my boys car , he walked into the reception at dmv court and said “this is Not my car” ticket was thrown out no questions asked.

The problem is I'm not the owner of the car, not sure if I can go to the court for the owner. The last thing I want to do is making the owner do extra work for my mistake. I rather just pay at that point.

Nah city will never call. The owner can still plug in their plates and see if they got any violations but if the cop messed up the VIN number then it might not show. If you plead not guilty you will show proof and if they approve no need to show up to court. If you appeal their rejection you can provide more evidence, before they can schedule a hearing. If they schedule a hearing then they need to see the owner even if it’s not their fault.
