College student going through it. Depression is kicking my ass along with my intrusive thoughts. I will pay someone $40 for a long hug. Willing to negotiate if needed.

Location: Preferably manhattan/ Downtown Brooklyn area.

—We will be hugging standing

-Hugger can be any gender

-Preferably taller than 5’5

Your school has a counseling office for students. Please call them or walk in they will help you . Also, if you are desperate for human contact and over 21 strip joints have ladies who sell their time. You can just pay to talk and maybe hug ( if they feel safe). Good luck.

have you tried talking to a counselor from your school? they have resources that could help you and can help you find a therapist. don’t compromise your safety like this bb! not the best thing to meet a stranger at night, you never know who could answer this ad. do you have a friend you could talk to or make plans with? are you close to anyone in your family that you can call? it’s ok to feel like this and it’s good that you’re reaching out! just maybe not to strangers on the internet. ❤️

Edit: lmao at the comments. I'm not suggesting or selling anything, I just posted the first link I found. I've heard of professional cuddlers / huggers before, so maybe you can find another site you feel more comfortable with where you can pay for an innocent and genuine cuddling / hugging interaction with someone, kind of like DoorDash but for that sort of thing. My thought was maybe a website that requires a pro cuddler/hugger to register would be safer than meeting someone off of Reddit or Craigslist or somewhere else.

Also try dancing. Once you get enough hugs to stop crying. Dancing is great to prevent touch starvation. Google for nyc blues dance. They have a free lesson at the beginning. It’s normal for folks to arrive without friends or partners, mix once you get there. Respectfully holding hands or light embrace while dancing helps the touch-starvation.

To the OP, I unfortunately cannot get to Manhattan but sending all the positive vibes I can through Reddit. Times always get tough, this won’t be your last but you have to try to relax, take one step at a time and try to have a positive outlook of “tomorrow will be better”. About 2 years ago, I was at my lowest point due to medical issues that left me paralyzed for 6 month, in a coma for 3 weeks. I was on suicide watch for 2 months. With help from professionals, I slowly got mentally stronger but what got me through the darkness was my own willingness. It surely doesn’t look like much now, but there is a lot of life to look forward to living.

You should take some time off from work/school, even if it’s for a week. Find a hobby, contact your friends/family just to chat, listen to your favorite artist. Basically try to occupy your mind with some light so it can outshine the darkness.

Nyc Well can be a great resource for connecting you with care and/or just to vent.

I have been really liking Better Help, which is a affordable app based therapy program. They have lots of different group discussions to join to which help you to feel less alone.

I feel for you, OP, but hugging is not a replacement for therapy. Depression is something that may require prescription medication. Please get some professional help. The student health services at your school is a good place to start.

Please contact your college's health services office, or seek a low-income therapy clinic, or call a suicide hotline. I know you're not on the verge of committing suicide, but they will talk to depressed people and maybe have some suggestions.

Honestly, I would pay YOU $40 towards your first Therapy session. Don't put yourself in harms way asking strangers for hugs. This is a Mad, Mad, MAD, world we live in today. I know that depression can really kick your ass at times, been dealing with it myself for many years. Therapy has really helped and I would beg of you to go that route instead of the one you posted.
