Last year I joined Eharmony for three months. I cancelled the membership and declined to renew and turned off automatic payments. I haven't heard from them since. No notice, no bill, nothing.
This morning I got a notice from a collection agency that I owed $781 for non-payment. I cancelled. I repeat - I cancelled.
I'm trying to buy a house and I can't have a collections on my credit. Help?
Update: I called Eharmony and they swore up and down that they sent me four emails about my account. I went through my trash, spam, and inbox and there was nothing there. I asked them to send me time-stamped copies and they refused.
I called the collection agency and talked to them. I made several statements and they will investigate whether this is a legit collection. Meanwhile the collection agency stated that they no longer report Eharmony or Match to the credit bureaus. They wouldn't state why but I think they do this so often that even the collection agency knows they are sketchy. The agent is going to get a charge-off and stated that, if she could get that, it wouldn't be on my credit history.
If I have to pay it I will but in no way do I owe this. Eharmony is a scam operation and they are lying about the supposed email notifications.

Did you use the app?If you have an iPhone, you can look at your subscriptions. Use that to track if you actually cancelled. Past that, you need to contact the company.
