I accept a job offer at a company I previously worked at for 4 year. After telling my current company I plan on leaving, they are offering me a 30% raise and reducing my travel requirements. I feel it would be financially irresponsible to turn down the raise. Do you think it is possible to turn down my accepted offer without tarnishing that relationship? I haven't received the official information from my current company with the updated pay and travel requirements. I am going to make sure I get that in writing. Also, I am not sure if I should let them know I am waiting on my current company to get back to me or just wait until I have the official information.
Edit: I'd be going from 100k to 130k with the raise. If I go back to my old company I'd be making 105K, but the benefits are slightly better. I am remote, the only reason I am looking to leave is because of the travel requirements. There will be less travel if I go back to my old company, but it will be international travel and I am not a big fan of where I will be traveling to.
Edit 2: Damn, this blew up. Thanks for all the advice and insight. Have a lot to mull over.
