This is totally just a ranting post. For context: I lived in Philly between 2018 and 2022. I just moved to NYC like 3 months ago (this place can eat my ass btw).

I love and miss Philadelphia. I know, the crime is bad, the bikers are assholes, transit sucks, and City Hall couldn't give less of a shit. There ARE cons that I'm aware of.

But man, if you can find a nice spot to live in the right area... Philly is the bee's knees. Just enough city to explore and get lost with an easy walk. Not too much city that you can't drive 15 minutes to go to a (legitimate) park, detached from the hustle and bustle. 30 minutes to go visit the suburbs, Ridley Creek Park, Rosetree park, Media, Springfield, Broommall... Great food, affordable living, 1.5 hours from the beach, 1.5 hours from the mountains, and honestly some of the most genuine people I know. Sure, we can be assholes, but we are honest about it and won't give you shit unless you're being a turd (and tbh... I think there's more kind people in that city than we give credit).

Lastly... it's nice to live in a city that doesn't expect much of itself, while providing a ton of really great amenities. It's like that weird humble kid you knew growing up who had that dope house but didn't really realize it.

Much love Philly <3 I'll be back soon

[Edit - by "bikers" I mean all those ATV brigades and whatnot]
