https://icaphila.org/ would like to have a word with you:-)
But I get it, there's no stand-alone public museum that actively collects (the ICA is really more of a glorified/curated gallery experience). The PMA is getting better as folks make donations. Speaking of donations, it'll be interesting to see what happens with the big 3 contemporary collectors in the area. The Sachs has indicated they will give much to the PMA...but if you drive by their house they still have Oldenburgs and a Robert Indiana Love Statue just sitting on their lawn. If you're lucky enough to visit SEI Investments the West family has items tucked away in vacant space - they were going to open a place in Fishtown, but I think the pandemic killed that idea. And who knows what John Middleton plans to do (sell it all off to make another Phillies post-season run?).

PAFA also has a decent contemporary collection. But I’d love for Philly to have something like MOMA or TATE
