The roll of the foot is the other big one. Humans are alive today because of our ability to walk, not to run.
It takes 3 days for a human to outrun a horse.

LOL, no it doesn't. There's a crazy Welsh race where humans have managed to beat horses in just 22 miles, and ultrarunners knock off anywhere from 60 to 100 miles in a day during races. Horses are generally good for about 35 (although you can certainly train 'em to go longer).
