I was looking at the new well reviewed restaurant Pietramala(https://www.pietramalaphl.com/) in Northern Liberties and saw that they charge a $20 corkage fee even though they're a BYOB restaurant and don't sell any alcohol.
"At Pietramala we put produce first so there’s no processed food or drink provided. We have rotating non-alcoholic offerings coming soon and operate as a BYOB. We are willing and able to accommodate any outside beverage and apply a full wine service to any brought bottle. Wine service is $20 per bottle and we’ll happily integrate whatever beverage you bring into your meal. "
I have NEVER seen a corkage fee at a BYOB Restaurant before. Is this a new thing or have I just not been to as many BYOBs as I thought?
