Measuring the number of photos I've shot has actually been pretty easy:
During my film days, I've kept the contact sheets for all the rolls of film along with the negatives. That was pretty easy to tally up.
When I went to digital in 2003, I kept a really good organizational system for everything that I shot. I have every digital photo I've ever shot between six external hard drives.
When the time came to tally the digital photos up, all I had to do was count the total files between the hard drives.
I've shot professionally since 2006, and many clients request photos years after the fact- so it's paid off to keep everything organized.
