I agree with you on the environmental end with all the single use plastic. That is typically why I buy the gallon jugs to help mitigate that (still bad I know), and now, trying to just have 5 Gal jugs I can get refilled and reuse.
And almost all bottled water is tap... besides spring. I love some Deer Park Spring but its getting pricier and pricier.

Don’t forget about the energy spent to move that water to the store and then your home. Water is heavy, and it’s not an insignificant factor.
In the case of the 5 gallon refills at the store: those are machines are filtering tap water and are essentially a big ass Britta. So why not filter it at home?

Understood. And you got me on the energy part. However, you missed the part where I specified 'Spring Water.' If I find a place that supplies Bulk spring water, It wont be coming from "a big ass britta" when I come to switch old bottles out for new. If I wanted purified water, I'd stick to the britta, ya know?

I’m very skeptical that waters claiming to be from a spring are actually from a spring.
I suspect it’s very loosely defined that almost anything would qualify as spring water. If someone else has time to jump down that rabbit hole let me know

This is a fair point too. I am definitely not a hydrologist so you could be correct.

I’m not going to put a lot value in information provided by a bottle water industry trade group

It’s an association that many major water bottle brands are members of, such as Aquafina and Deer Park. The page linked is a quick reference that breaks down types of bottled water, including spring water.

Spring water is not held to as high a standard as tap water. If you want clean water, you’re best off drinking filtered tap water.

Deer park is absolutely fucked. That's Nestle stealing public water and selling it back for mad profit. Fuck bottled water. Get a filter and stop diluting yourself into believing that any single-use plastic is any type of solution.

Why is this downvoted? Other users that are saying they use the 5 gallon jugs are upvoted.
