Pick someplace and go, but by god, call and try to make an appointment. Plenty of shops are running low on mechanics and might not have a slot available right away.

Nope, no secret. Sometimes finding a good place is trial and error, but the availability of reviews is a good equalizer.

If you edit your comment with a general location, maybe some folks will have good recs. Pretty sure can search the sub and find some, as well.
