Vodka pasta sauce is a modern concoction (70s), nobody is sure from where. NYC and Italy both make claims. The branding is of course just marketing. I might give it a try.

Why is it weird? Heinz makes lots of jarred/bottled processed foods and is particularly famous for a tomato-based one.

Heinz isn't really associated with pasta sauce in the US, don't think I've ever seen it. Double checking myself by searching the online ordering of Giant Eagle, don't see any Heinz branded pasta sauces. Nor does the US Heinz site list pasta sauce among their products.

I know Heinz has a different product mix in other countries. Like the Heinz Beanz that are a cultural staple in the UK, but that I've only ever seen here in the international imports aisle.

Apparently Classico pasta sauce is one of the many Kraft-Heinz sub-brands in the US, but as far as I know Heinz branded pasta sauce really isn't a thing here.

The Classico line of pasta sauces is owned by Kraft Heinz. Heinz has been making pasta sauces in the US for many years, just not under the Heinz brand.

Again, I don't think it's a huge leap to imagine a that a company that makes canned processed tomato products can also make pasta sauce. Is it confusing to you when a company that sells bagels starts selling muffins?
