I’m moving back to the Pittsburgh area after a few years away, and since I’ve been gone I got my license and started driving. I have years of experience as a passenger in Pittsburgh, but no experience driving there, and I have horrible anxiety about driving in general. I’m not sure if there’s anything in the world that scares me more than the thought of driving the Fort Pitt Bridge. What neighborhoods are the best/least stressful for someone who absolutely hates driving?

If you go north you have no tunnels to go through to get downtown. I find 65 the most stress free way into town

Except through Ben Avon where the road gets inexplicitly narrow, and I always end up next to a bus that doesn't quite stay in it's lane and all there is are double-yellow lines between you and oncoming traffic.

Neville island is my favorite to cruise around.

It’s tiny, there is almost negative traffic, gas station is full of really odd people, and also a major highway when you decide to leave asap.

Point breeze can be pretty quiet, especially south of Dallas Ave

Could also try the housing development (maybe it’s called summerset?) that’s on the opposite bank of the mon from the waterfront

Very Stressful, but Strip District.
