I received a piece of mail from the city that the Italo American Club is looking to rezone from R1 (residential) to C3 (heavy commercial) which seems inappropriate for the neighborhood. Anyone know what they want to do with it?

I can’t find the meeting packet anymore, but it was to allow dancing and in the staff memo, staff wrote they’re against it. A little bit of info in the agenda.

Thanks for this. It’s really valuable info. Why does it need to be C3? That seems so weird. I guess it makes sense.

Update: Found the packet

>The petitioner is requesting a rezoning of the subject lots from R-P to C-3. The applicant operates a cultural facility on the subject lots that includes a restaurant with provision of incidental entertainment. Incidental entertainment allows for playing of unamplified acoustic music and playing of prerecorded music below maximum volume without dancing, cover charges and light effects. The zone change is being requested to allow for live entertainment –ancillary use, which would allow for enhanced entertainment that would include amplified music, DJs, dancing and performances.

It seems weird that it would be C3 though. C3 is like auto body shop level zoning.
