I’ve been trying to find a rental house or townhome available the last week of May but F me for trying to be proactive about it, every realtor company I’ve found doesn’t allow viewings if your move in dates more than like ten days from the properties availability date, and don’t have things listed for available then, only immediately or during the month of March. If anyone has had success in finding stuff earlier on can you share some of your secrets to help me wade through the headache? Or if you’re currently renting somewhere and moving out in mid May maybe we can work something out to take over the lease at that term with whatever company? TIA

You are way too early for anything but big corporate places. End of May is a big turnover, but most tenants aren't required to let their landlords know until end of March at the earliest.

So the big places in Scott's addition might work. Otherwise, check Apartments.com and zillow but don't expect to see anything until april

Yeah, evernest I had to let them know 3 months out but I know a lot of others are only the 2, just makes it annoying when I have to tell them but take a leap of faith since I can’t find anything, and give them a forwarding address when I don’t even have an idea of that yet 😂

Is that ex -Dodson? They have a rep for being crappy, I think 3 months is pretty unusual.

But yes, that sucks. What's your budget? Rentals still seem very tight, if it's upper end I'm sure you'll be fine, but if it's lower end, it's really tough

Yeah it’s ex Dodson, current spots super hood but the price was right for a 20 something single guy, but moving in with my gf that locationndef isn’t somewhere either of us would feel safe at since it’s gotten bullets through the window and has at least bi-weekly shootings in a two block radius for. Budgets up to 1800 with at least 1k sq ft which should be doable, but without seeing stuff I can actually grab now it’s just got me geeking a bit since I’ve already had to put in my notice to them

A house was just posted on Pineleaf Dr (southside) with a start date of July 1. I know that may be too far out for a start date (and possibly location), but I happened to see that moments after reading your post, so figured I'd point it out.

Try posting this on the Lindsey's List group on FB, you might luck into finding a homeowner who plans on renting their place out for the first time in May or someone with a lease ending then that is pretty sure they're moving but hasn't given the landlord notice yet.

I’m gonna be real, Lindsey’s list is crap these days. It’s all a bunch of people trying to rent out single rooms for 1100 so they can have their potential roommate cover their mortgage or rent. It’s gotten wild and I rarely see a post worth even looking at.

I’ve done that already but I think being so far out it’s still been a crapshoot for anyone, only responses I got were immediate availability places that were way smaller than we’d be wanting (I’m talking 750 sq ft, when minimum for us needs to be closer to 1k if not ideally more), like I’m fine with renting from a slum lord company since small repair shit like leaking faucets and badly hung doors I can fix myself easy enough without needing to put in 20 work orders, but the extended required window for my move out notice just has me geeking a bit about where I’ll be able to even look at since nothings been posted up for then yet publicly

That's a tough boat to be in. This might not be a perfect idea but you could go look at post history for that group or similar from March/April last year to find old listings that had start dates in May, can reach out to whoever posted those to see if whoever rented the place is planning on renewing.
