Is the new space on the Carytown or Ellwood side of the Carytown Exchange development?

Suprised to find out this ABC outsells every other in the region, even the big boujee one in the west end.

The current Carytown Starbucks is also moving across the street soon.

“The store had been open since 1974, and was one of Virginia ABC’s top 10 performing stores last fiscal year.”

Anyone else find that surprising? I know location isn’t huge thing but there are so many bigger ones in what i feel like are more trafficked areas. Maybe the people in walking distance keep it moving

I sometimes pass a few to get there. The selection is incredible for the size. I've noticed a lot of the bigger ones just stock way more of the same product, like 10 rows of Evan Williams to fill space. The Carytown one always has the random liqueurs and amari that I'm looking for, or some brand of a liquor I haven't seen. There are far bigger stores with way less of the stuff I tend to look for. Not that everyone is looking for weird stuff like me, but it's something.

Has to do with the fact that from a restaurant POV it's the easiest to pick up from and has a great selection. Could you imagine being a restaurant and picking up 24 cases of liquor from the main St or Shockoe location, not ideal.

The one at 3100 W. Broad is convenient and has better parking, and is a very short distance from Thompson. I find myself pulled to the Thompson store to find some things I never see at other locations, but I will welcome this new location because that Ellwood's parking lot is a war zone.
