Nothing too exciting this weekend. Going to be planting a bunch of seeds, getting the outdoor rows cleaned up and ready to plant, and fixing/adding some irrigation lines.

Sunday afternoon ill be yelling into the void while I try to put frost cloth on all my fruit trees again. These back and forth temp swings are brutal.

Anyone got thoughts on Fulton Hill? I don't know much about the neighborhood except that it's close to Churchill.

I'm looking for a neighborhood with trees, where I can have easy access to a coffee shop and good dog walking streets. And semi close to the airport and under 400k. Any recs?

Good luck! There isn't a lot on the market right now, but a LOT more should be hitting the market later this month. Definitely check out neighborhoods, even if there aren't homes for sale yet, that way if something does come up, you'll be more confident about the area, and you'll be ready to move quickly if you like the house.

Check out the 'sold' homes from the past 12 months to find areas in your price range that may not have listings available currently.

Have you considered the Stadium neighborhood? Easy to pop onto 195 to get to the airport.

Saw this on Zillow, for example: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/706-S-Nansemond-St-Richmond-VA-23221/12552117_zpid/

Thank you.

I am seeing a neurologist FINALLY! It only took a fucking YEAR!

They think that it could be several things, as somone here posted the last time I complained about lack of sleep PLMD may be the cause. I kick and thrash and vocalize violently at night. No arm movement, just legs, and its bad. Really bad. Normally I am not consious or even aware that its happening. Last night I was semi consious and it was happening for hours and it was scary as fuck to be perfectly honest.

Sleep study has been ordered, we will take it from there.

At least the doc ruled out ALS. My wife's mom had that, for about 6 months. We all know where that shit end. I couldnt bare to put her through something like that. This is bad enough, it affects both our sleep, moods, cognition. I am glad that she is at a convention out of town so she will get some shut eye while Im swimming in bed at night.

I look forward to a nights sleep, it will be a thing of beauty.

Hopefully I'll get a second round of lettuces done, and then starting all the summer crops. Tomatoes, peppers, et .

Hoping to get some rows of spinach, beets, radishes, and turnips going in the greenhouse but well see how much time I actually end up having.

I definitely follow that sub, I should be more active in it as it warms up and I can move more of the fun stuff back outside.

Fulton's OK. I've been up here since about 2005. Some parts are run down compared to others, but all are generally safe. Development of empty lots, general gentrification and rising costs is definitely affecting the neighborhood.

Celebratory gunfire is a heavy thing here. New Year's Eve really pops off. We also have a significant train yard nearby that has train sounds at all hours of the day and night (usually not super loud, just a reminder that they're there.) Airport being close is nice for trips, but the planes do fly fairly low over Fulton at times.

Blue Atlas is a nice restaurant with a great view and a small market (check it out even if you don't move up here.) They're probably the closest thing we have to a coffee shop, though there are plenty of convenience stores and a few decent fast food places like Ms. Girlee's. Also, Triple Crossing, Stone Brewery, Gillies Creek Park, Rocketts and the Cap Trail are all minutes away.

You should also look at nearby Montrose Heights (right across Government Rd.) , which is similar, but maybe generally quieter, than Fulton.

I was fired from my job because they lied about it being a full-time position. They said they tried posting the job as part-time but couldn't find good candidates, so they decided to pull a bait and switch and lie that it was full-time. And they said it to me like they did absolutely nothing wrong. The worst part it was the State government, and they have a one year probation period, so they had the right to fire me for any reason since I was still on probation.

I honestly don't think I will be able to recover from this. I have already started skipping my medication so that it will last longer.

I was scheduled for 6, one cancelled, 2 delayed by 2+ hours, and three relatively on time. My flight on Monday from RIC-SFO was actually on time, but then our bags took an hour and ten minutes to make it to baggage claim because there was no one who could do it. The last flight home was delayed, and and they wouldn’t let me check my bag until 1.5 hours before the NEW boarding time. I had already arrived at the airport prior to the delay, so had to sit there at the check in/baggage counter for a couple hours to wait to check the bag and get through security (mind you, limited seating, no food, and check in/bag drop areas aren’t meant for people to stand there for hours). Unbelievably frustrating.

ALSO HOW DO THEY NOT HAVE WIFI? that’s really the biggest deal killer of all for a business traveler.

Ok. Rant over from a United seat I was very thankful to snag so I could get home today.

Yep, everything was written up to be full-time, but in state government, you have to go through a whole year of probation where they can fire you for literally anything. They stated I was fired because I was too nice to individuals, and creating an equitable creative process took too much decision-making power away from leadership. It's 100% trumped-up charges so that they could get HR on their side. Even then, the Head of HR apologized and said I did nothing wrong in her eyes as she walked me out of the building. And this was after I helped them run the best Convention they have ever put on and helped raise the most money they ever raised for the state charity program by me creating an extremely well-received gameshow for the fundraiser event. I met and exceeded every expectation and was still fired.

I didn't know until after I was fired that the leadership has been having issues with work processes for a long time with the various programs and teams. My trying to create a creative process that shared power and leaned on multiple perspectives was seen as a threat to their control.

Tell me about it. It's nuts. One of the two on the 1500 block of Carlisle is under contract already at that price (which kinda blew my mind), which maybe makes sense because it's all new construction, but the one next to it was renovated and I figured it would start much lower than the new one.

The houses on the western side of Fulton (divided by Williamsburg Rd) tend to go for more than the eastern side, generally speaking.

Fulton was one of the last pockets of sorta cheap houses in north-of-the-river Richmond and it's been discovered by homebuyers and investors (landlords) who snap things up for crazy money.
