Why are most of the St. Patrick's day parties and festivities this weekend and not next weekend? It doesn't make any sense. Friday is the real day all the festivals should be on the 18th.

IDK, when I lived in Savannah, which has a much larger St Patties celebration, whenever it fell on a weekend like a Friday or Saturday, it was a complete shit show. I mean it was always a shit show, but on a weekend it really was. Maybe they wanted to avoid that.

I’d consider conference tourneys to be included in the March madness definition but I guess a conference tourney final vs the first round of the big dance is slightly different

I live in Chicago now and their famous celebration is this Saturday too. My guess is that it’s standard to do them the Saturday before the 17th

Can confirm. Grew up outside Savannah (effingham county) and we only made the mistake of going into the city for St. Patrick’s day once.
