Have we reached peak stupidity yet? A paper renewal notice? And a fee for that?

Meanwhile, they raised digital subscriptions from $12 to $25 a month while simultaneously laying off scores of staff. Times-Disgrace indeed.

As if anyone ever wants mail in 2022. Real nice default option for my online only subscription.

And this is after realizing the last call-to-cancel that returned me to $11.99 month had mysteriously gone up to $19.99 again over the last 3 payments.

Richmond Times Disgrace.

I had to cancel digital twice a couple of months ago. Four calls, two of which I gave up on after far exceeding the minimum 20 minute wait on hold. The first cancellation didn't work, the subscription was still active and they were sending notice of a charge coming through. I questioned the phone rep why you have an account location online where you cannot manage the account, you can only cancel by calling and sitting on hold well over 20 minutes no matter what time you call. She said "good question".

Yep. Can only call/cancel during business hours too of course. All super above board practices done by people who deeply respect their eternally dwindling customer base, no doubt.

RTD jumped the shark for me when they failed to report on the annual grocery store rankings this past June— Kidding— Kind of.

I cancelled a couple years ago after one particularly insulting phone conversation with someone who was trying to get me to renew. Would love to support a local newspaper but never them again.
