Why do you assume only life has consciousness? Why do you assume that only a specific part of life has it?
As someone who doesn't understand consciousness, I still cannot understand why it has to be limited to brains of our shape. Consciousness, seems to be ill-defined and misunderstood. Commonly, it's assumed to be easy to intuit yet it's almost impossible to find a common understanding of it.
As long as we do not have a concrete definition of consciousness, or unless we frame it in a very restrictive definition (almost anthropocentric), we cannot accept the claim of it being exclusive to us.
