Copyright law has been a disaster for some time (see the never-fixed copy striking system on YouTube for example) but now we're seeing successful technology suppression (worth a read) by people who do not understand the technology itself and imagine themselves victims of it - thus making victims of the whole world.
The anti-AI movement has successfully shut down the Unstable Diffusion Kickstarter and Patreon. Other tools, such as Waifu, have also decided not to release new models because of the constant harassment.
And now the troll group has raised $150k on GoFundMe to lobby politicians to outright BAN diffusion models. And we all know how much politicians love to cause harm in the name of good.
Don't shrug this off.
Technology might continue to be developed but efforts like these ensure that tech remains out of the public's hands.
It's worth noting that these groups self-brand as anti-AI, rather than anti-AI-art. They won't stop here. There's nothing more dangerous than an ignorant zealot.
Read that linked post and think about how we can push back, because if we don't the Singularity won't be for you. It'll be tucked away behind a firewall and piles of red tape.
