Doctor recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a doctor? I am a male in my 40s have following conditions:

Hypertension Chronic pain Hypothyroidism Anxiety Depression

Sometimes pain can get a bit much, I don’t mind a doctor who is careful on pain medication prescribing but I wish to avoid a doctor that is completely has an anti pain medication bias. I never have really asked for them but because my previous doctors in last 15 years prescribed pain meds regularly I feel I am completely discounted by my current doctor. They don’t listen to even my non pain related concerns mostly. I just go really to have maintenance meds refilled. My concerns over regular nausea and extreme discomfort due to mild weather temperatures like 60-75 after Covid (which is nearly everyday I get an episode) were ignored during last appointment. These issues are preventing me from feeling like there is any point in telling them anything and at this point. I feel like if I don’t get a new doctor that it’s going to get really bad, either because I don’t trust them to tell them something or them not paying attention.

I have chronic pain, and also depression/anxiety. I see Dr. Bolyard with Mercy at the Smith-Glyn Calloway building. He doesn’t ever make me feel bad about my pain meds (160 tramadol/month), and he is very understanding. He does have concerns about medicines that don’t mix right, but is very open to meeting any and all concerns. I think their office number is 417-888-5658.

I live west of Springfield and have Very good luck with Dr Lisa Parker in Mt Vernon. I deal with a lot of similar issues due to an autoimmune disease, and she’s been a major help

Following because I'm in the same boat. I'm so sick of hope/prayer doctors around here. I want a doctor that practices medicine. I don't understand why that seems to be too much to ask.

I recommend Alicia Thomas in Ozark. She owns her practice, so she can take as long as you need in appointments. Diagnosed me when no one else could. Thomas Family Care in Ozark.

When my previous doctor retired I was told the new doctor doesn’t BELIEVE IN pain medication. I have no problem with having to earn trust but I was deeply offended that my doctor makes decisions based on belief. A doctor should make decisions based on science first not beliefs. I took the phrase to mean she makes decisions based on bias. Every time I go there since then I have felt talked down to, and ignored despite never asking for pain medication. I feel like just because I took them in past they treat me like shit.

Same! My previous doctor was great. He was actually my first doctor as an adult at the age of 34. Took me in and treated my conditions relatively aggressively and I almost could not believe how much my life improved.

When my doctor left Cox I got a new pcp with cox. Was i formed that they won’t prescribe controlled substances. It’s focalin. I’ve been on it for 4 years. I’m not asking for a high grade opiate here

You may need to go to a pain clinic like the one at Mercy’s Spine Center to get controlled substances. Many pcps will not prescribe them anymore.

That’s the thing though I am not asking for pain medication, I feel I being prejudged because other doctors thought I needed it in the past as a result there is not mutual respect and times it feels like disrespect. This lack of respect is creating distrust on both my end and doctor’s end, in turn it gets me feeling like there is no point in telling them stuff because when I do I feel like not only are they listening and or discounting the things I tell them. For example I told them I had covid recently and that I have been feeling flushed, hot and nauseous. They didn’t even speak to that because I mentioned I had pain running down my leg when I stood. I find the nausea and sense of hotness more debilitating. I feel invalidated, unrespected, and that my health is at risk because they’re not paying attention.

I really like my internist at Cox Ferrell-Duncan, Dr. Brad Wiley. When it comes to psychiatric care, however, he may refer you to Eustasis, but don’t go there. You will NEVER see a MD and IMHO it is a mostly a profit-seeking organization. The patients are exclusively seen my RNs and nurse practitioners. I am not saying they cannot provide good care, but I am saying that the model at Eustasis does NOT allow them to. Other than Eustasis, there are virtually no other psychiatrists taking new patients in Springfield that I know of, sadly. Medical care in the US currently sucks. Doctors are under time limits and now seem to type notes at the same time they are supposed to be listening to patients. Everyone is in the same crappy boat.
