It could inherit the crown from Walking Dead, genre-wise.

Breaking Bad was a rare example of a show building year after year and ending brilliantly. Best to aspire to that rather than beat it.

I think it's already stolen the zombie apocalypse crown from The Walking Dead. TWD has been terrible for the most part after the first season. It's had some fun moments, but overall the quality has been pretty low and the production values unimpressive. The Last of Us has more visual variety in single episodes than TWD did over full seasons, and is telling a better, tighter, more artistic story about a similar setting. It's more comparable to McCarthy's The Road than to The Walking Dead.
