If you're more interested in psychology and small-scale family dynamcs, do The Sopranos, but if you find politics/economics more interesting, then do The Wire.

I think it would be more about which you’re able to appreciate atm. The wire has its on pace compared to a lot of other cop shows especially, more of a slow burn that has a lot of amazing scenes that don’t all jump the story line forward.
The sopranos i thing has aged a little more just because of how revolutionary it was but we’ve seen a lot of what it inspired on other shows since.
I think the wire is better but they are both amazing dives into a certain culture and people. If you had to pick only one to watch I’d say the wire is better but the sopranos is more entertaining in the story telling. Ones about a man and two families he’s apart of and one is about a community and the people within the system
I see, thanks for your opinion. I think I’m gonna go with the wire 👍
Also I found the amount of characters introduced in the first episode quite overwhelming. Is that something that will just pass with time or is it quite hard to remember who is who.
That will sort itself out, in a way it’s about factions as much as individual characters. So there is the street cops and the street dealers and then the cop bosses and the crime bosses
I see, thanks a lot!
