You'll be alright. :)

I'm ADHD and my brain does the same thing to me. You'll be OK. No one is going to think you're a shithead. These things happen.

:) the guy laughed even.

Life lesson: An employer NEVER needs the details, it's none of their business. You just say:"I'm not well enough to come in today".

Well I hope the takeaway here isn't about sharing too much with your employer but maybe more about the role booze plays in your life. Missing work because you're drunk or hungover means you have a drinking problem. Hope you get yourself sorted

That's why I use the "only drink on weekends, and not the day before work" method.

Yeah do not mistake your employer for your friend. They don’t need to know why you aren’t feeling well enough to go to worK and unfortunately now they will assume you are drunk/hungover the next time you call out.

“I’ve already missed too much work this month.” Proceeds to get shit hammered the night before work. I don’t feel sorry for you.

Eh, I've worked at jobs, before, where 'I'm too drunk to come in' was a perfectly acceptable excuse. But you really have to know your manager(s) for that one to work.

That being said, I'm going to agree with some of the other posters: 99% of the time, your manager doesn't need to know why you're calling out. A simple 'I can't come in today' works just fine. Doesn't matter if it's because of illness, a family emergency, or your cat's birthday. They don't need to know.

My coworker lost his job, his license, and is currently in jail because of repeat DUI. Not funny. Don't drink the night before work.

Back in my party days, the one thing that scared me more than anything was allowing myself to call out of work because I was hungover, or up all night, or just wasnt in the condition to work.

Going to work was my punishment because I knew if I called out once, it would be much easier to do it twice, then three times, then ultimately my life is a mess.

Have you taken other days off because of drinking or drugging? You might have bigger problems waiting for you.
