Oof, so i woke up this morning thinkin hell ya im gonna win that auction for that eletric fireplace i saw on the cheap. So i had some time and discovered they did a pre emptive bidding where if someone overbids you itll follow yours incremitantly so your not paying huge amounts over. Awesome so i put $200 down, still a steal since its at costco for 1.2k
Auction rolls around i discover theres another and my dad does want an electric fireplace after all the fuzz ive been making. I panik and say hey dad should i bid on one? He goes ya... thinking it was the one i showed him(The one i wanted).
So now ive ended up with two eletric fireplaces and my dad thinks he was getting the nice one. Was super nice to go out and pick them up for me since im at work.
I dont know what to do.
My father is a total stand up guy, i just wanted the fancy fireplace for my living room cause im moving out in 2 weeks and ive been tryna to aqquire cozyplace things.
TLDR : Panik in the heat of an auction i didnt explain to my dad what i bid on, and now i feel the guilt of all of this.
All in all, $420 down. The other one is a tv stand setup
.Theone we both like is just a really nice insert that needs a mantle or stand to go inside.
Edit : I Am His daughter. It turns out the boxed mantle actually was missing a few pieces, we tried putting it together and had a super good time trying to figure out how to set it up or work around it. Ultimately the mantle fireplace will be taken back by the auction company. And my dad wants to work with me to modify an existing entertainment center that has some sedimental value to the both of us. I tried to offer it up but hes too good of a dad to take something that ive shown intrest in. I love him so much.

I’d give him the good one. My dad’s gone now, but he’s only asked me for one thing, a knife sharpener I’d bought. Giving him anything after all he did for me made me really happy.
