This happened a few hours ago so it's still fresh.

My kid sleeps with his pampers on. He woke me up around 2 am saying he needs to go to the loo. When I helped him take his pants off I realized he had an insect bike, which was weird, so I took his pj's and gave them a good shake out the window.

Once he was finished, we returned to bed where in my infinite wisdom (instead of just throwing it away to get rid of potential insect) and without thinking.... I started shaking his Pampers. The fraking thing exploded in tiny pieces... That padding that is used to absorb went ALL OVER the floor and some on the wall. I can't understand how it disintegrated to that degree, but oh my god it was awful.

Lucky we have hard floors and no carpet yet.

TL:DR never ever shake a Pampers, it will explode in tiny plastic/paper pieces all over your room.

Watch that bug bite, often staff infections are mistaken for bites because they look so similar. Try antibiotic ointment first then go to the doc.

Sorry about the diaper

Tbf, I've never even heard of an insect bike and didn't realize insects could ride bikes, so it's understandable that it would surprise someone.

The padding is actually a fine powder (sodium polyacrylate) which absorbs crazy amounts of water. When wet it becomes a sort of snow-like powder, or if wet enough a gel.

They're not asking for advice, this sub is literally about people making mistakes or fucking up. They never said it was an urgent situation, and they certainly don't want whatever weird advice you would give while you're...high and/or drunk(?), based on the lack of a single coherent thought in your comment.

Hahaha. Serves me right for typing this sleepy. Going to leave it there as it's even funnier.

And for the record, I do support insects getting bikes too. They work hard, they should have some fun and a good way of transport.

Oh. Would you like to me to delete the message? It has come to my attention that minors use the site and so, in order to engage properly without disturbing anonymity. But of course, do not feel like you must defend OP. My school recently received a bomb threat, actually it was years ago.

But thanks!

Oral thrush in infants is a sign of STD. Staph not staff is staphylococcus and, also an std marker. There are times where i just ignore comments like children who do not belong in my school or classroom. Not being a parent myself, it is difficult to engage others regardless of age. I leave this thread open to anyone who may need some legal and medical advice pro bono. But i will need to see legal identification in order to be safe. Except i must insist, even the local authorities in the USA are hard to rely on.

But thank you for your input.

Actually no. In fact, i have had doctors who insisted i take medication that i initially refused numerous times. So i took matters into my own hands and spoke with therapists who dealt with people that had aids and stds, on top of mental disfigurations.

At the end of the day. It can be a local support group for mil-vets or those who abuse alcohol. Cold case detectives and the like.

Or it could be a regular job. Sensitive to political issues and vigilant against harassment. Women go the gym. Men can as well. Martial Arts or social activities are also options.

And if it goes without saying. We can leave the world in the hands of Greta Thunberg or, ensure that children dont have to “speak” for themselves. Emotionally, i feel many people are not as mature as they think. Age could play a role but, some children in third world countries for example are indebted into work, whatever type it may be.

But you know. “I like to move it move it”

I made a similar mistake once. I let my son, who was in a standard diaper under a pair of shorts, play in a splash pad. After about 10 minutes he fell backwards onto his butt. The diaper exploded out white goop all up his back and everywhere.

About 6 years ago when my eldest was almost 1, I threw a big wet nappy down the stairs for my partner to catch and then throw in the bin but it just exploded into a million of those little nappy crystals full of piss in his hand, and therefore all over the 1 metre² at the bottom of the stairs.

The absorbant material in those diapers is unbelievable. My mother has dementia and recently started wearing adult diapers. She snuck a couple into the laundry. Clogged the drain from the house to the street. It took the plumber forever to get it cleaned out. Lesson learned by the entire family.

Salt. Pour salt where all the little pieces are -- it deactivates the absorbant and you'll be able to vacuum it up. (This also works if you accidently put a diaper in the dryer.)

In the midst of moving house, I forgot to remove a wet diaper from the floor after a midnight change. I stepped on it the next morni and the thing popped open and somehow shot across the room. I also have carpet. It was awful

When you said you shook the pants out the window, I thought this was going in the surprise poopy pants direction. Shake out the shit pants out the window, surprise, your house now has shit freckles.

The parent company, Proctor & Gambol, invests heavily in polymer science research, because that’s how we get the weird interior that absorbs.

If I had any chance of doing this sort of research for a career I would have hopped on it. But alas my dyslexia made chemistry class absolute Hell.

That powder is the same stuff they put in those water cooling neck wrap tube things, and in “core coolers” for dogs. It’s really neat stuff, well, except after a kid pees, of course.

Oh holy fuck, exploded nappies.

My twins are disabled - they’re 6 now, one still in nappies 24/7 and one only at night. One sleeps on his front and we had a major issue with the first lot of prescription nappies we got - they’d just fill up at the front and overflow or burst. Even if we changed him in the night, or more than once, we’d still wake up often with exploded nappies. That stuff is a bloody nightmare to clean up and absolutely stinks. Agree though - hard floors should be mandatory with kids (with padding down when they’re little and falling a lot obviously!). I absolutely dread to think what state carpets would be in between all the accidents, sickness bugs, exploded nappies, toilet training, spills… and the time one managed to reach a bottle of liquid watercolour on a shelf (big error).
