I remember going to the local 7-11 with my neighbor to get smokes and beer for his mom with a note saying it was OK. The clerk would happily send us on our way with a pack of Camels and a six pack of bud, no questions asked.

"Swimming With Skeletons" would be a great name for a "Poltergeist" documentary, or a JoBeth Williams memoir.

TIL Poltergeist, which came out in 1982, was rated PG. This is despite not just the movie fitting perfectly into the horror genre, but also many adult themes including the smoking of marijuana and a deep dive into the occult.
