If you look up 'largest social housing complex in the world' Queensbridge Houses do come up on top, yet I'm familiar with a public housing complex built in the 70's in my hometown in Argentina that has 7958 units and an estimated population of around 50,000, so far larger than Queensbridge. And that's just my hometown. I'm pretty sure there are even larger housing developments in Eastern Europe and Asia.

There's a housing complex near me, actually it's right across the street, in Beijing. It's 20 something buildings and has around 10,000 people. And that's not even considered a big complex.

China, bro. The government doesn't share any information lol

I know this from talking to the real estate agents in the area as I was interested in living there. It's actually a nice community with nice apartments, but found something better nearby.

Did they happen to mention how they subsidize their housing?

Oh this isn't government housing. It's all "owned" by people and mostly rented out to others. In China you don't buy land for life, you lease it for 30 years or so from the government. Developers buy it and build upon that land, people buy the apartments, people rent those out.

This post is about public housing though that is subsidized and maintained by the government. Public housing may seem like a generic term but at least in the US it has a fairly specific meaning.

Alt-Erlaa in Vienna has about 10,000 inhabitants. It is very popular subsidized housing, featuring rooftop and indoor swimming pools and club and hobby spaces, as well as all amenities (shops, schools, church etc) within the complex.

Maybe they don’t show up in online search since they are less than 2/3 public housing and more than 1/3 privatized
