TIL Martin Luther King was born Michael King Jr. However, his father, a pastor at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, traveled to Germany and became inspired by the Protestant Reformation leader Martin Luther. As a result, King Sr. changed his own name as well as that of his five year old son.

TIL that despite having brains the size of poppy seeds, bees are able to recognize and remember human faces. In a study, researchers paired images of human faces with sugar-laced water, and bees were able to recognize and remember the faces even when the reward was no longer present.

TIL 1950s/60s songwriter Doc Pomus had polio as a child, resulting in serious mobility issues. On his wedding day he was unable to dance with his new wife Willi Burke, a dancer. Watching her dance with the other male guests inspired him to write the song "Save the Last Dance For Me".
