Competition. Camaraderie. Fun.

Have a friend, partner, or significant other who wishes to play baseball again or longs for one more summer in the sun?

The Green Mountain Baseball Association is putting out a call for new players for the 2023 season.

Players must be 35 years of age and 40 years old to pitch. GMBA is a wood-bat league with teams in Colchester, Enosburg Falls, Essex, Jericho, Milton, South Burlington, and Underhill. Fun, sportsmanship, and carrying on Vermont's deep baseball tradition are tenants of the league.

The league's 18-game schedule begins in May and runs through October. Games are every Sunday morning from 9 AM to Noon-ish and are often attended by family and friends. GMBA boasts players of all ages and skill levels. Most players have some previous baseball experience.

If you or someone you know is interested in joining a team, please visit:

I played several years ago with a mixed experience. Some teams were very serious... Players still holding on to the dream. Other teams treated it as a casual beer league. It made for tension during certain matchups. I don't know if it's still like that, but Id guess it varies by team.

Most of the hardos are extinct. Either that or times have changed. There are sometimes postgame beers, but not during play. It’s hard enough to hit a baseball as it is. 😆

How competitive is the league? I'm 31 but I'd definitely be interested in this in a few years!

Every team plays to win, but there’s also a handshake line after every game.

Right, but how's the skill level? I guess that is what I meant to ask, sorry. Have most of the guys played in college? some high school? or completely amateur?

The majority of players have at least high school experience, some have college experience, some are playing again for the first time since little league.
