I think that government subsidies for farmers are OK, but the reality is that most of them hate the government that makes their businesses economically viable (all of the large Cabot Co-Op farmers are government dependents), most want to end benefits for everyone else, and other such conservative hypocrisy and cruelty. I have three tenant farmers on lands that I manage (one is a big Cabot guy) and they all are as described above.

You're correct, I misread the original figures. Even at the proposed new spending level of $78 billion, it's still only twice as much as we spend on beer. And practically invisible compared to the $2–4 trillion cost to taxpayers of the 2017 corporate tax rate cuts.
