I really hope they come back. One of my absolute favorite restaurants in DC.

I wish I had the chance to actually try it - a group of friends were going years ago and invited me with them. I'm allergic to a few kinds of seafood, and when I called to inquire if dining with them was possible, they said yes. They'd just skip the fish dishes...but still charge me full price with no substitutions. I asked if that meant being charged the full $80 for essentially 1/3 of the tasting menu and they said yes.

I don't expect any restaurant to bend over backwards or make any substitutions, but suggesting I pay full price while receiving only a few dishes seemed very odd.

I really regret never going.

Their website always made clear there were absolutely no substitutions of any kind for any reason. At some point, I think they just got sick of people asking for accommodations and started responding like dicks, and I don’t think I blame them.

I miss Komi too. Covid sucks.

I miss the off-menu hooch at little serow too

I totally agree. We went every month or so since it opened and during Covid picked up takeout. The 'Little Mermaid' all seafood weeks were always amazing. We loved the staff and the special touches, like bringing a small glass of sour lambic we did not order for a certain course as it was what the staff loved with that course. It was a hit.

It took us a while to pace with the sticky rice and veg to enjoy the whole meal.

The coursing pace was almost always perfect, even when the servers took the time to hang with us and chat.

Side note, we do not eat meat normally but we made an exception at Lil' Serow. Once thing about a prix fixe menu with no subs is that the buyers, kitchen staff, and servers can be relentless in perfecting - our 20th+ meal was similar to the first, just that much more delicious.

We want more Little Serow...

So, so good. Nothing like a cold thai beer and thai so spicy that my scalp sweats. I hope they see this post.

I miss you Bad Saint :(

I used to go there every year for my birthday :( I wanted to bring my girlfriend there, who I met during the pandemic but it closed.

I miss it too but it really doesn't feel like it's ever coming back.

Bad Saint and Little Serow were 2 of the DC restaurants I was most excited to try next 😣

My hands down favorite restaurant, we ordered from them during lockdown…I can’t believe they’re gone!

This one hurt too! I lived within walking distance and they were so kind, and provided such great service. Plus their food was amazing, that fatty crab dish was incredible.

Dang idk why you’re getting downvoted. I find it surprisingly hard/stressful to dine in dc with a shellfish allergy

It's because people aren't understanding what I'm saying. I didn't ask for substitutions, just literally asking if it was possible to dine at their restaurant. People here love to be nasty when they can.

I wasn't asking for substitutions. I was literally asking if it was possible to go to their restaurant with an allergy and eat something, anything! And they said yes but I'd still have to pay the full price. This is what I thought was weird - they didn't say "no options, sorry, don't come here" or "yes, we have soup you could have" or something. No, it was "pay us $80+ tip and get very little." It's an odd thing to say, and no, no place has the right to "be a dick".

He & my brother are friends, which is how I heard about him in the first place.

Bourbon is outstanding (as I'd expect a 4 Seasons restaurant to be) but I'm glad I got to try Hazel before it closed. The flavors really were spectacular.
