I’m 100% not a fan of Charles Allen but I can admit the changes you cite here are better than what I’d heard they were planning. This does inspire some confidence.

I was concerned they were trying to get rid of strict penalties for rape and other sexual assault charges.

Hopefully Allen realizes that defunding the police isn’t actually going to help reduce crime, no matter how much we would all love that to be the case.
