What is there to do on NYE in DC, other than house parties or paying an expensive cover to get into an overcrowded bar to celebrate the new year?

Go to the mayors free event at the anthem

You can hang out on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Great view of the Potomac.
Only issue with this year, is the possibility for rain.
The Commodore in DuPont was just advertising that they’re open with no cover.
It won’t be crowded and is free.
Meets all the OPs requirements.
Go to a friend's house? Have your friends over to your house? Go to a neighborhood bar? I can't imagine somewhere like Trusty's or the Raven is going to be having some expensive cover charge event.
plenty of bars with no cover, idk how crowded they will be though
here's a free event for a small bar I like near chinatown: https://www.freestatebar.com/calendar/masqueradenyeparty
I mean, that's just it. do literally anything else.
Last Call. No cover, drink specials, etc
Go for a walk
Red derby
Yes, celebrate NYE with a headache. Fun!
Most NYE parties are so overrated.
Invite some friends over who want to do something similar. Everyone spends $40 or so on their own alcohol and some food to share. Perfect night and you can be in bed at whatever time you’d like.
What if no friends?
Old town Alexandria has that big event. I think it's free?
