Up to Russia to end it.

This is just putting in law and budget that Germany is ready to stick it out with Ukraine. Putting money where their mouth is.

Europe is using Ukraine as a reason to remilitarize. It’s not just Germany. Poland is going all in on spending. The Nordic countries are setting up a joint air defense plan. Even Italy is ramping up its military.

After all these years, they realized that 1) it was not the ‘end of history’, 2) they can’t depend on the US for everything, and 3) Russia is going to keep at it. People overly focus on what the US is doing, but Europe is changing too.

Old stockpiled stuff perhaps — for the record, perfectly adequate for countering all modern Russian equipment —, but if Western nations decide to supply weapons fresh out of the factory there’s really no limit.

Yeah, it’s not even a contest. Russia’s GDP is approximately 2 trillion USD, the collective GDP of the countries that support Ukraine is approximately 52 trillion USD. Russia will run out of steam looong before the West does.

We'll see. It all depends on what all those dollars are spent doing.
