Yeah...l had high hopes for this pope, but he turned out like the rest in my living memory, all talk when it comes to structural sexual abuse in it's own system, now it's attacks on ethnic basis and borderline Russian apologist behavior to boot.

Left the church in my teens, and shit like this always reminds me that it was the right call to make.

All the progressives left the catholic church centuries ago. They got tired of being labeled as demon worshippers so they formed their own churches.

Just curious what it means to leave the church. Does it mean you just no longer attend mass and donate? Or does it mean you reject the entire Christian doctrine?

Lost faith. I still think of myself as spiritual, that there is (hopefully) more than just this fleeting existence. But as far as buying into any hierarchical structure that claims to speak for a supposed god...yeah, not doing that.

What if you strip away the hierarchy of the organized Catholic faith, but look at Christ's teachings on their own? How do you feel about those?
