Most restaurants and food places are closed on Thanksgiving day in Montpelier. I've tried in the past to find a place to go out, it's not happening.

You'll be close to Burlington - beautiful lake, shopping, dining, brew pubs, etc. Smuggs will probably have outdoor things for you to do in addition to skiing.

There are downsides - and the weather is the biggest one - but there are downsides everywhere! I don't think Vermont is perfect but I don't really want to live anywhere else, either.

I doubt it too. People on this sub are always really discouraging to out of staters who want to come here but it's a very progressive state with a lot to offer. It has its shortcomings, of course, but don't be put off by Redditers. You'll see for yourself.

If you are new to the state it's easier to get into a practice. If you're already here and trying to switch, they won't take you. You'll probably be ok.

Looks very similar to today. Montpelier has been managing to block development for over 100 years!

Sorry to be so negative but that could be a bummer of a honeymoon. Come sometime in early October! If you aren't coming for ski season, June to mid-October is when you want to be here.

There will be no leaves on the trees by then. It will probably be damp and chilly. We get very little sunshine in November, typically.
Where are you from? You might want to try southern New England for cozy Fall vibes at that time of year.

Our cozy Fall vibes are in October. We had a mild November this year but it was unusual. November is very gray and bleak. It also gets dark really early. Honestly about the worst month to come to Vermont.

The White House PR team really needs to embrace Dark Brandon more. How hysterical would it be if Brandon became a compliment after these idiots have it tattooed on their bodies and painted on their barns?

There's a stop sign kind of randomly in the middle of Bailey Road that trips a lot of people up, also going down the Bailey Road hill you can pick up a lot of speed, watch out you don't go over the limit.
Basically, familiarize yourself with Bailey Road!

The housing market is very tight and rentals often get snapped up before they are even advertised. Maybe reach out to the people at your new job and see if they have any leads or can help. It's a state wide problem now.

Go to Montpelier - cute town and a lot of the downtown stores are having sales today. Walk around, have lunch, short hike in the park right behind the State House if you're inclined. Go to Three Penny Taproom if you want beer, Barr Hill if you like cocktails.
