Avoid Roseann Iuvone if you are a person of color, she made racist comments about my friendly neighbors, and overall sucked. Disorganized, arrived at the wrong time, needed to borrow keys from tenants, etc.

You can afford to rent anywhere you want. Try visiting the city in April and imagining where you might want to spend all that money on rent. Check out the new luxury apartments in The Hill, they are probably nice and super close.

I ordered them from TireRack.com and had them to delivered to Firestone in Wooster Square, and they put the tires on. Worked out pretty well, I didn't have any issues.

Go to Tavern on State St before you get pizza, and try some bars near the Green afterwards, maybe ordinary for a fancy cocktail if you’re into those.

Lots of Yalies are in New Haven for a degree/career goal. Many fine people arrive and leave in a few years, maybe even 6-7 years. The transient nature of the young people make the dating scene narrow and competitive.

You have a rosy view of the city. I teach in New Haven and I see another side of the city that is not as hopeful.

I found the comments on this article relevant to your inquiry: https://www.newhavenindependent.org/article/yale_building_projects
Yale is bustling with new developments, but none are housing. Makes me think it’ll be more expensive to live here in the future, and the Yale-affiliated folks will be an even larger part of the population. I teach high school, and many of my students will follow a trajectory somewhat like yours, and I often worry that will not be possible as the city becomes more expensive, specifically housing.

That’s a pretty working class area, my buddy lives about 0.5 mile away and his area is pretty lively and very safe. Lots of families outside and neighbors working on their cars etc.

It’s one block away from Crown St., but def farther down the line from BAR. I’d walk from BAR area to Chapel, then down to Barracuda.
