Thanks. These days I use a cast iron dutch oven since I retired and have the time.

Hard for a well made crockpot to go bad. Just a heating element, a thermostat, and a mechanical dial. I have one older that yours.

I just bought a Jam because I thought I'd lost my old Sansa Clip (now sans a clip). It does what I need it to do. Frankly my ears are shot so anything beyond 320vb MP3 is wasted on me.

2011 MBP in perfect condition mechanically, but I have to run it on Linux. Why make products that last if you don't support them with updated OS and software?

I still use a SanDisk Clip Jam. Sometimes you just want an MP3 player. That takes microcards.

I had a shorter Belgian AF (blue) coat like that. Never lived anywhere where it got cold enough to wear. It weighed a ton.

Reply to BIFL Dutch oven: Le Creuset vs Lodge by DesignerAccount
I have a plain Lodge ugly cast iron Dutch oven. I don't see a need or a want another. I am sure I paid less than $60 and the lid can used as a handleless frying pan. Just baked Thanksgiving 7lb turkey breast in it.

It was bottom of the value line workwear. When Walmart got them, the quality really went down.
I remember the days when JCPenney sold high quality workwear at a price a worker could afford.
We don't even have a nation BITL anymore.

Anyone darn, i.e. mend socks? Or it is just easier to return darn tough socks than to darn them? Do you think Darn Touch Socks could darn the returned socks and then give them to the homeless for charity? A darned Darn Tough sock would probably be a super sock as far as they would be concerned.

Ok so? The thing about the French is they are not wound too tight.
I have an Opinel knife I have carried for over fifty years. Bought it in a small town in the Massif Central so I could feed chunks of apple to a friendly French mule.
The French soldiers I know usually start their day with a swig of Calvados.

You are being polite. My point was lots of people, yes lots of people, believe they are getting real military surplus when they get something from MilTec or Rothco in a "military surplus" store.
As I said if he's happy I am happy for him. I just know the extra work and expense that goes into real milspec grade equipment. Never cheap out when your life is at risk. If not, pay for pretty colors and reward workers in China.
And I know some countries like GB and France do get stuff from China, it's a free world for some.

Oh sorry master, did not know you knew everything. I apologize as a US and NATO logistician for over 30 years that I should defer to smart asses. You learn something new on reddit every day.
I guess I just slept through those years supplying equipment to 40 plus NATO and other allied militaries. Oh Oh So sorry.
Is everyone on reddit an asshole, seems that way.
I support Ukraine what the fuck do you do?
