Thing is what's going to happen is going to happen before a dramatic political change. Current politics will literally be irrelevant to the technological change we are going to experience (extremely soon in the scheme of things) as a society. Discussion of said politics or ways to change the system don't mean anything. Humans will simply adapt and a new political spectrum will be required that will be totally divorced from current ideologies.

Right and left are meaningless concepts. If I did a political compass test rn it would probably say I'm authoritarian left when that isn't the case at all. If somebody talked to me about my views they would probably assume I'm authoritarian-right but that isn't true either.

Almost anywhere on Reddit is centrist or left wing. Would rather we didn't discuss partisan politics in this sub. Not going to play my hand politics wise. This is a place to discuss the trajectory of tech and the way it might help improve our lives. Let's keep it that way!

This year's progress will seem slow in comparison to 2023.

I'm expecting new and exciting developments in AI research!

Hoping for proto-AGI. Expecting perfected image generation. Expecting advanced video, music, 3D generation etc. Think AI will become more relevant in the public conscious as AI shows signs that it will transform life for everybody.

Hoping if proto-AGI is achieved we will be lost for words at the speed of these developments!

Proto-AGI/ transformative AI will probably be developed within 12 months imo. The proof of concept of this AI already exists. Innovation and scaling in the next 12 months will likely deliver this capable AI.

Transformative AI (proto AGI) in the next year. AGI probably by 2025. I think AGI will be a black swan event. Hopefully within a few years we have competent BCIs and FDVR. Obviously a bullish timeline but I think people can't fully appreciate exponentials.

I don't think people being far more intelligent will make people happy. I think it will be a minority of people who embrace these technologies in that way.

Crazy that 4 of those already exist. Literally just ticking off boxes every month.

Good article. Hoping consumer capitalism doesn't destroy us completely. Maybe we will be the creators and won't be the victims of increasingly personal manipulation. Not sure how we can avoid this tho.

Incredible and yet this technology will be outdated within a month or two. The future is now.

Proto AGI within 2 years. A fom of UBI rollout beginning in 2025ish (probably starting in Europe with US following a year or more later). Probably hopium but if this year has proved anything it's that the optimistic predictions are usually too pessimistic.

Then again I am one of these nuts who thinks AGI by 2025. Hopium might be clouding my judgement. Time will tell!

I know this is the unpopular opinion but after seeing what Google and Meta have been putting out probably before 2025.

Who cares what happens to Hollywood. The place is a cesspit. Besides true artist filmmakers and actors will be able to create whatever they want.

Basically after AGI any of this is possible. Think we will get games movies etc within 2 years then AGI. Or we get AGI soon and all this follows including full dive. As soon as we get AGI we get BCI's and if we get BCI's and AGI we get full dive.

Would like to build the world. I'm sure if we get to that point an ai will probably be connected to a BCI and from there you will be able to literally fill the experience with your own imagination. So the possibilities are endless.
