1891 to 1911 were the years of the great H shortage. PittsburgH changed their name to Pittsburg in order to help alleviate the shortage. things were a bit confusing around the US as Houston had to go by Ouston for 2 decades...

I'm not sure it's dealers being assholes. I think it's because used car prices are very high and it's still very hard to buy a lot of new cars. Supply and demand.

I think dealers are the same asshole level as they've always been.

typically they all say "you can save 15%" because most of them give up to a 15% new person discount for the first year only. not sure what happened in your case.

You need to be able to have a lot of donations and other deductions to itemize. The recent tax changes under the previous administration raises the standard deduction so high (and capped how much local/state tax you could deduct) that most people save more money by using the standard deduction.
