My understanding is that the charges won’t prevent her from being a police officer again, only if she is convicted. The city hasn’t convicted a police officer in a long time. Ms. Mosby charged several officers, including one sergeant from my area in Southwest Baltimore but then she dismissed all the charges after the publicity died down. Another officer from this area was charged with causing an accident, the news reports said he was drinking, his charges were dismissed by Baltimore County. I would see him in his car in the 7-11 parking lot looking high and drunk.
Years ago my daughter was sexually harassed by a group of police officers, we learned in mediation two of the officers were charged with sexual harassment at their previous jobs, one was let go because of his behavior toward young girls. The Baltimore police still hired them both because they weren’t convicted of the crimes. It’s a shame so many people with ill intentions come to Baltimore to be police. I believe the lack of discipline over the years encouraged bad people to join the police department.

I tried to watch the CBS story about the Fells Point flour all over people’s homes but this story came up instead. This officer was driving erratically, crashed her car, when people came to help her she got angry, showed her gun. When police arrived her girlfriend took drugs out of the car and tried to hide them.
The drugs were marijuana, I’m a medical marijuana user, I support the use of marijuana responsibly. I don’t think officer who have a gun and are driving a car should be under the influence of marijuana.
I’ve read and heard about more officers being arrested or disciplined since Mr. Bates took office. I think this is very good news for the city. I hope this continues, if he cleans up the police force the city will be a better place.

May I suggest you try your local community group or one of the loan subreddits. I’ve loaned to local people in the past through these groups, they vet the loaner and recipient. The interest is much lower than any payday loan, in some cases no interest. I don’t know how to link the subreddits in a comment, try searching for the r/borrow group.

It’s hard to know what city departments are responsible for what, there is finger pointing and blaming other areas, departments, then none of the 311 requests are addressed. In the end the city residents and the environment suffer.

DPW and the city forestry teams have done terrible things to the environment. In my area they tore down 1/4 acre of older trees they said impacted visibility in the big park, then they planted sidewalk trees where people paid to have the previous removed because they were getting into the sewer lines. Why remove healthy trees for visibility in a green space, that makes no sense. At least four years ago a woman from high up in DPW told us they were fixing the problems with the storm drains leading to the Maiden Choice behind my house. Four years later nothing is done, the river overflows the banks every heavy storm and the trees on the sides keep falling in causing jams. DPW causes problems all around by starting projects without finishing them or doing things that don’t make sense, yet no one from the city will take responsibility to fix the mess. I believe their stream restorations make things worse, the sewage leaks that DPW never fix means sewage goes right into the bay.

The incoming water supply is only half the problem, DPW also handles the sewage. Multiple areas in the city have sewage leaks, the sewage goes into the streets or comes out of the toilets and basement drains into people’s basements. DPW hasn’t fixed any of these problems, everyone I know used their own money or received grants to get their houses fixed. The problem is that the sewage is still in the streets in some places, and multiple vacant houses have sewage in the basements. The smell is bad on warm days. Check the background of any house very carefully before you move, ask the city if there is a history of sewage leaks.

You are supposed to ride on the sidewalk if the speed limit on the street is 30 mph or more.

Please be safe! I saw a video on Reddit of an Asian country where they train bus drivers by having them ride a stationary bike next to a bus lane, the trainer driving the bus intentionally drives close to bump the bus driver’s elbow as he is pedaling on the stationary bike. I think this is wonderful training to help bus drivers understand why three feet of clearance is the minimum for cyclists and scooter riders.

Riders are supposed to ride scooters on the sidewalk if the street speed limit is 30 mph or more. Pedestrians, cyclists or scooter riders who are involved in an accident with a car doing 30 mph or more have a much higher risk of death or debilitating injuries. For twenty years as a physical therapist pedestrian and cyclist injury victims were my bread and butter, that’s transitioned to shooting and assault victims because of the rising violent crime, not because the streets are safer.
The scooter companies have the rules in the app and on their website. Maybe riders read the rules and follow them, probably that is too much wishful thinking.
I used to ride scooters with my grandchildren to get ice cream from the Baskin Robbins, years ago we rode on the sidewalk when going onto Wilkens Avenue because of the speed of the cars. My grandchildren were courteous to walkers and runners, stepped off the scooters when the sidewalk narrowed or someone was passing by. Now the sidewalk is so overgrown with weeds, buckled and broken that the sidewalk is as dangerous as the streets. I believe many scooter riders today pick the safest place to ride, either street with speeding cars and potholes, or sidewalk with litter and weeds. I’m happy people still use the scooters. It’s great for your mental and physical health to be outside and get some exercise.

1-800-799-7233 is the National Domestic Abuse hotline, they help in multiple different situations. The city doesn’t have many good organizations to respond, National organizations can help. If you plan to move to another state you can look at what’s there to help on that state. I’m sorry for what’s happening to you. I pray for better times for you.

I’m glad you bought from the girls at the Catonsville Walmart. This is the one across from Double T Diner? The girls from my neighborhood were selling there two weeks ago. I don’t think that location is any safer than the city but their group doesn’t sell in the city any more. I’m happy to hear they’re making sales in the county, I miss seeing them around here.

DC gives people money to fix the problem before it happens, and gives people money to dry out their basements. Baltimore has a program to reimburse money after you already pay for clean up, no one I know was able to get reimbursed. I listened to the city council hearing on this problem the only person who was reimbursed was a friend of the councimwoman.
I experienced this myself for years in Baltimore, the city doesn’t reimburse people. My son lives in DC and experienced the opposite, DC paid for a valve to be installed before his basement ever flooded.
You shared a news story about a single flooding event after historic rainfall in DC when the same thing happens every rainy day in Baltimore. If Baltimore gets more news stories about our issues because of the Wire, where are the news stories about the sewer water flooding from last night? Or from three weeks ago when the sewer water froze to the street? Baltimore DPW, mayor and council people don’t do anything about it.

That’s an article about DC’s mayor helping people whose homes were damaged by the sewer water! DC’s mayor helped the people, had companies clean the damage and has a program for the city to install the prevention valves for free so it doesn’t happen again. Baltimore doesn’t do this

The Baltimore system may be more modern but it’s not better. They don’t know, won’t admit, where all the SSO’s are, the city fixed the problem dumping sewer water into the harbor by redirecting it into people’s homes. Both Philadelphia and DC have programs to stop the sewer water from coming into homes or going into the streets. Baltimore only has a program to repay for a little bit of clean up after it happens, and only if you’re friends with your councilperson. The vacant homes in Southwest Baltimore have basements filled with sewer water, it comes out the basement windows, goes into the streets when it rains. That’s not better even if it is more modern. Baltimore doesn’t do anything to prevent the overflows into houses or the streets.

No we don’t. The city is under a consent decree from EPA because of how bad the sewer system is. In my neighborhood in Southwest Baltimore the sewers back up with every storm, the sewer water goes into people’s basements and into the streets form the storm drains. That sewer water goes right into the bay.

Our old community association had an agreement with the Motel 6 near me for cheaper rooms. We had a special code word to get rooms for $55 for emergency shelter for the night. If you know the community group near you they may have something similar for local hotels. The city doesn’t do a good job taking care of teens and young adults, I wish there were more options. 15 is too old for the children and women’s shelter and too young for the men’s shelter. It’s the right age to get into trouble on the streets, Im glad the boy has you to help him.
