This is an industry wide problem. Too many new shows, not enough good writers or good plots.

Yes - not able to edit the title unfortunately.
I'm not sure that the reboot is going to be all that more successful. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. It seems like they should let different creatives take a crack at this 'franchise'.

Am I reading the article correctly that it was only renewed just to have something to air?

I don't know why Netflix just drops all these shows with little fanfare. Lockwood & Co was pretty good.

I'm pretty disappointed in this reveal. I may be in the minority but I don't really care to watch an Amanda Waller show or a GoT style drama set on Themiscyra.

Yikes... I saw this one chart on Nielsen and thought it was good for a renewal. RIP.

I've seen posts pushing Amazon Prime shows like The English and The Peripheral that have felt... less than organic.

Why should they speak out against the audience? I'm confused.

Good. If we can't have quality & quantity, better to just have quality. A lot of Netflix shows have been downright embarrassing this year.

Ridiculous argument.
The difference in reception is NOT because of IP strength but the quality of the adaptation. As someone who read ASOIAF long before the HBO show, it was virtually unknown to the general audience prior to HBO GoT whereas the widespread popularity of Tolkien's legendarium spans decades.
Put it this way - a shitty LOTR show was able to keep fairly close streaming viewership figures to a critically and popularly well received GoT show. If that's not IP strength, what is?

I'm not sure how anyone would rather have a John Stewart series before a Hal Jordan series... guessing there's some committee meddling going on here.

Women oriented shows are typically cheap dramas that come out by the dozens. Military, espionage, action, sci fi shows oriented towards men & male characters are more expensive to make but they're MUCH more likely to be (& be seen) as prestige fare.
It's a matter of quantity vs quality.
ArsBrevis t1_irpres6 wrote
Out of curiosity, would you care if a TV show didn't seem to care about male characters? Why or why not?
