I have this idea for a "video game" in which the player drives around and racks up "points" in the form of fines and penalties for all the wrong moves he makes. Make it fun, but educational. I frankly believe that many drivers don't know the rules at a 4-way stop; don't know NOT to turn right into the left lane; that turning left into the left lane is recommended but not required; that you must STOP at a red light even if you're turning right; that you stop -- or at least slow down -- for crosswalks when another car is stopped there because there may be a pedestrian crossing; that you stop for pedestrians until they either get across the street or to a safety island; and that speed limits are MAXIMUM, not minimum speed! The list goes on.

My idea is to show drivers in a fun way all the thing they may be doing wrong, without being preachy about it. "Oh, you've just racked up a potential $10k in fines and a loss of your license for 3 years" (or whatever).

I don't think NJ has a rule not to move your car. IIRC you are supposed to move your car out of traffic. It is not fleeing the scene if you're still in the vicinity.

Get an attorney. Have the attorney tare that cop a new one for expecting you to remain in the travel lane with a car full of children.

On the Federal level, you can basically gift anybody any amount of money -- or the equivalent in property -- but you have a lifetime limit (or something like that) before you pay taxes on the gift, AND you must report to the IRS any gifts >$15k (if it hasn't already been upped). The recipient pays not Federal tax on such gifts.

I have never heard of any equivalent issue in NJ Tax Law -- but IANAL. Consult a tax attorney, though a CPA might also be able to provide answers. (Don't trust ordinary tax preparers like H&R Block on such questions.)

I've got a plan: Let the NRA and right-wingers have their way with allowing guns wherever -- PROVIDED the same provisions apply to their events.

Ever notice how guns are banned at NRA conventions, Trump rallies, etc.? Why is that? I mean, all gun owners are forthright, upstanding, trustworthy folk, aren't they?

Under my suggested legislation, NRA wouldn't be able to ban guns (not even semi-automatic rifles) at their events, unless such guns are also banned everywhere (*) else. Same true for Trump rallies, CPAC conventions, etc., etc. One size fits all. After all, the only remedy for a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun -- right!?! /s

* Okay, maybe not quite everywhere. Guns would be allowed on practice ranges and while hunting (and I mean deer and other game animals, not humans!), subject to hunting regulations. Otherwise, all or nothing. If gun owners be allowed to carry in the downtown, then they should also be allowed to carry in the NRA convention. Or while visiting the Supreme Court. /s

This may be an excellent solution. A relative of mine had to enter an assisted living facility and gave away most of their furniture to a family that has lost everything in a fire. The family did the work of moving it all -- a double benefit.

Near me there's at least one fellow who cleans out places the resells what he can at a flea market. I have no idea how far he will travel, or whether he charges. You might drop by local flea markets and look for guys selling miscellaneous goods, especially when they have trailers with signs advertising such services.

Contact your township building department and have them look up the records for this construction and road work. Find out who is the contractor. Look up his license number with the state. Maybe hire a lawyer. Real property (i.e., land, houses, etc.) CANNOT be contracted word of mouth. A decent lawyer would probably have this "contractor" for breakfast.

Have the Rahway HR dept. assist. That's their job.
