Supposedly the original Sad Ghost guy died a while back, so people put them up as sort of a tribute all over the east coast. I've seen them as far south as Richmond, VA, and I used to see them everywhere around town when I lived in Philly. I would assume the artist had some connection to Philly - there's one of them on a railway embankment near Sullivan that's superimposed on a map of Pennsylvania with a little heart on Philly.
There's a TON of them around metro west right now, so I assume someone local is doing it as a tribute or something.

As I understand it, the current contracts only lets them promote into the roles they need from people with sufficient seniority. If you don't have enough people with 5 years of experience or whatever (I don't know the exact number) they can't fill the roll until someone earns the necessary seniority.
Which is, yes, a shitty contract that no one should have signed. Colored me surprised that the MBTA boxed themselves in by signing a bunch of shit contracts.
I could be wrong though, this is all hearsay.

Hiring externally requires renegotiating multiple union contracts. That's... not going to be an easy or quick process. I don't even know if they've started.

They say it's the worst flu year in a decade. I'm really trying to avoid it, since we already had covid and RSV in my house this winter, and I'm not trying to catch 'em all here. Kids bring home EVERYTHING from school...

Very common in New England, but you need a pretty big yard, so not really a city food. Also, short NE growing season means you can only get them in the warmer months.

Parking at Logan is for suckers. The blue line garages are cheaper, easier, and since it's the blue line it even won't catch fire on you.

This is correct. We usually get tankers full of LNG from Rotterdam that fill up the tanks up on the Mystic. Early in the winter when it was looking grim for Europe they actually filled a few tankers here and shipped the LNG back across the Atlantic to top off the tanks there.
TLDR power supply wise you basically live in Germany.
