(And this is coming from someone who is getting real close to that age bracket. Just because we're old doesn't mean we can't be idiots, too.)

I'd be careful with that.

  1. It technically invalidates your card because they say ”not valid unless signed.” So if you run into the rare merchant who checks the ID they might refuse it for not being signed.

  2. If the person taking the card is unscrupulous, giving them your ID in addition to your card gives them even more info to steal from you.
