Reply to TIL Mountain Gorillas almost never drink water. They get their hydration from from their plant diet and morning dew. Despite living in rainforests, they also tend to dislike rain and try to not get wet when crossing a stream. They have never been observed drinking water in the wild before 2013 by Ainsley-Sorsby
So is it thought they weren't observed, or that they didn't do it?
Wonder what changed.

Any basic rocket should work regardless of atmosphere.
What you might be asking about is a reactionless drive or something that doesn't really exist.
There are hybrid rockets/engines that work like a rocket but may use air for oxidant, but those are a whole other thing.
If you want to see more stuff about some of the non standard rocket engines you can look up aerospike rockets, or ion drives, which are real.

Well, that's also a character where his ethnicity is a main point of his story.
Like a black guy playing Winston Churchill might not be historically accurate, but his ethnicity is not a main point of the story.

Yeah. I remember someone talking about mining to the center, sticking a bunch of bags of water in there and then heating the outside, when the water bags burst you get a rough sphere asteroid. I think this was an idea back in the 70s
Bubbagumpredditor t1_j0w2esf wrote
Yeah, this has been a standard idea in space exploration and science fiction for decades.
