I think many of the residents here need to take a look in the mirror too. I drive rideshare and I see too many people taking Uber to go 3 or 4 blocks. “We” take cars for every stupidly short and frivolous trip. In every previous city I’ve lived in, trips like that would be laughed at (obvious exceptions if elderly/disabled/bad weather).

As do other cities in both the US and even elsewhere in Virginia. The city government here just always chooses the laziest/cheapest option for any given situation while making lazy/lame excuses as to why their way is the only way.

Every member of the city council and the mayor needs to be flushed out like the turds they are.

The Capitol Square and vicinity are excellent. My partner and I will just walk around the path there.

Lots of these Scott’s Addition places are uber strict on seating and reservations. We’ve experienced similar situations.

They worked fine in other cities I’ve lived where the driving culture is different. They cannot and will not work in RVA because the driving culture is too aggressive.

You don’t even have to scratch. Just lightly breathe towards anything.

Colonial Heights/Petersburg/Hopewell is the most depressing area I’ve ever seen. Every customer I’ve driven to/from there was having a hard day in a harder life.

We’ve got a lot more road closures today. As per usual, the City of Richmond is doing an “excellent” job of directing traffic and informing the public of its plans.

And that’s a service that could be deployed without corruption and graft, but here we are. To answer your question, yes I have needed to call a tow for that purpose.

Outside of companies that are exclusively roadside assistance, there is no such thing as an ethical towing company. They’re all scum and opportunists.

This is extremely poorly designed.

When No Left Turn is illuminated, there should be a green forward arrow and signage indicating to proceed straight forward into the left turn lane for Shepherd Street.

I’ll add that from the start of the left turn lane (back near the McDonalds) that illuminated sign may not be visible enough in certain circumstances - eg heavy traffic with vehicles in front of the driver obstructing lines of sight.

I’m a Rideshare driver and was taking someone to the train station when I was there. Customer had to bail out early at 14th and walk that last block or miss her train.

I joined with the sidewalk drivers to make an illegal uturn and got the hell out. I’m basically a “Ned Flanders” of obeying traffic laws 99% of the time, but I was not fucking with that shit. I went straight home.

I think our traffic planners have room temperature IQs.

I was stuck right before 15th. No signage. No traffic cop. No direction. People were driving over curbs/on sidewalks to get out.

It’s to the point where if we see those swivel tablet registers at a place that does NOT offer actual table service, we just won’t go in. I depend on tips myself, but it’s just ridiculous how far tipping has gone.

It’s not just RVA Chipotles. Chipotle has been a shell of its former self since the early 2010s.

Rotaries ideally have 1 more lane than the roads going into it, to be used as a left turn-only lane. Otherwise, it’s perfect. Putting the PULSE underneath is a wonderful idea.

Nothing says “upstanding business who is a valuable contributor to the community” like the name “Final Notice Towing”.

That is one idea I would not mind him having.
